Hunting

Mafojani Safaris offers both Trophy hunting and Management hunting. We cater for the Rifle and Bow hunter with a variety of 32 species, 21 of which are located in the Limpopo province. 11 species are indigenous to the Free State Province.

The Limpopo Bushveld is known for the Mopane Bushveld, large Baobab trees, hills, rocky outcrops as well as open plains and river beds. This unique combination provides hunters with a unique bushveld experience and excellent hunting terrain. Some of the sought after species on offer is the Cape Buffalo, Sable and Kudu and many other indigenous plains game species.

The Free State is more of plains hunting in combination with some bush and hills. It is usually a country where one hunts over long distances and requires more precision walking and stalking, which in turn contributes to the Safari experience. There are some very unique species on offer here such as the Lechwe, Tessebe, Roan and of course the Black Wildebeest, Blesbok and Springbuck, all of which are some of the most sought-after species in these areas.

Important Hunting Information

Firearms and Ammunition

For most of the plains game on offer (up to an Eland), a 7mm, 308, 300, 338 Win. or similar calibers will perform well. It is best to opt for the highest bullet weight available for the caliber. According to South African Law, a minimum of .375 caliber is required to hunt dangerous game. All Firearms require a temporary import permit. We offer the professional services to make sure all your documents are in place 21 days before your Safari will take place. Bow hunters do not need a temporary import permit to bring their bows into the country.

Licences and Permits

Certain species require a CITES permit to hunt. It can be obtained from our federal wildlife permit office and needs to be done in advance prior to the Safari. Most of the plains game trophy fees includes the licence fees.
